I disembarked at the ultra modern OSL airport, and made my way to the high speed Flytoget airport express train which would deposit me at central station 19 minutes later.  The express train is not cheap – it was around $30 one way and there are other less expensive options.   But it was convenient and quick and I was tired.

The Radisson Blu Plaza, was a short walk away from Central Station, and centrally located to just about everything.  The family member I would be traveling with had already arrived so I made my way to the room and to a much needed night of sleep in record time.

The room was warm and comfortable, and though not especially modern, had everything we needed including a feature I especially love, heated bathroom floors!  The included breakfast spread was fantastic, and the concierge was very helpful.

A Comfortable Stay In Expensive Oslo

With no real agenda for the 2 full days we’d be in Oslo, we set out to explore.   The central area of downtown is very pedestrian friendly, with lots of walk streets and plenty of shopping.

Vigeland Park is probably one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen with hundreds of sculptures made even more breathtaking with the beautiful colors of fall everywhere.

The Oslo Opera House is amazing, with panoramic views of Oslo and and visitor friendly, angled plaza walkways inviting guests to walk in, up on, and around the building.

Food was really expensive, though we splurged one night for moose stew and a glass of local organic wine.  It was delicious and well worth the splurge.

It was October, so we didn’t expect especially good weather.  Even so, with the exception of our final morning, it was pretty nice.

After a couple of busy days checking things out, it was time to make our way back to the train station and pick up our rental car for the journey south.
